Safety footwear impact tester

Description

Sitec’s Impact Tester is designed to perform the required drop tests for toe caps, whole safety footwears and metatarsal protection in accordance with various safety footwear standards. Its flexibility is ensured through the selection of an appropriate striker (shape and weight) and precise control of the fall height to achieve the target impact energy.

The impact energy is determined by measuring the fall time, using a pair of optical barrier sensors that capture the fall start/end time with negligible delay. The integrated processing unit then computes the actual fall acceleration and dynamically adjusts the fall height for each subsequent test. This compensation algorithm accounts for factors such as friction and aerodynamic drag, ensuring the consistent and accurate delivery of impact energy throughout the testing process. The system operates transparently to the user, who need only specify the desired impact energy; the equipment will automatically adjust the fall height to meet the energy target.

Additional features include:

  • Automated measurement of the piece height as an initial reference for calculating the drop height
  • Self-lubrificating tracks: these tracks require no oil or grease and are virtually maintenance-free
  • Test database: every test is recorded with an optional user-defined description. The database can be exported to an external drive for further analysis
  • Easy device setup: the system includes a positioning laser, adjustable position regulation, and a pneumatic locking mechanism for easy device setup
  • Redundant safety mechanisms: ensures safe operation at all times

The impact tester is supplied with calibration certificates verifying the fall weight, time, and height, ensuring traceable and certified performance.
